Larry Bigbie had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Burbank Tigers staged a dramatic
comeback over the hapless Lewisville Fire Ants by a score of 9 to 7 at the
ballpark.
Burbank came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs on 4
hits. After an out was recorded, Carlos Pena keyed the rally when he lined a
base-hit. Brad Ausmus was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Tony
Batista then lined a one-base hit. Brian Roberts stepped in and he drew a
walk to load the bases. Bobby Higginson stepped into the box and stroked a
base-hit plating two runs. Bigbie added to the uprising and slapped a
one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. It was roller coaster of a
game as the lead change hands 5 times.
The victory went to T.J. Tucker(2-4) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Mark Buehrle(14-12) suffered the loss. Burbank scored big getting 9
runs off him in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Wes Davies was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at
bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there?
You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what
makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over
'til its over.'
